INSTRUCTION:

Read the following passage and answer the questions that follow:

Some days after the funeral, a special train took Gandhiji’s ashes to Allahabad. The compartment was decked with flowers. People on the train sang bhajans. People did not weep anymore for they could feel Gandhiji’s presence amid the flowers and songs. At every station sorrowful crowds filled the platforms. Amid song and prayer the train reached Allahabad. The ashes were immersed in the Ganges where a huge crowd had gathered at the bank. Afterwards we all went back to Delhi.

1. Answer the following question. 2×2

(i) Why did not the people weep anymore?

(ii) Describe the train which carried Gandhiji’s ashes to Allahabad.

Man has dominated the earth since the dawn of civilization. Other animals have accepted nature as they found her. But Man, gifted with the power of inventiveness, he has tried to better his environment instead of surrendering to the whims of nature. This inventiveness originates from man’s constant use of different techniques by which
